Scientists advance research on Alzheimer's disease
FMI Technologies is working with several health institutions to raise $6 million to develop prototypes of an imaging system that would combine tomography and radioisotopes to examine chemical changes in the hippocampus -- the part of the brain that regulates short-term memory and the first area affected by Alzheimer's disease. Researchers said trials involving as many as 300 adults could begin this year if federal grants become available. Akron Beacon Journal (Ohio) (5/3) Right-click here to download pictures. Focused for Better Outcomes

Fused MultiModality Imaging (FMI) is developing ultra high resolution PET/CT/SPECT diagnostic imaging systems combined with drugs and molecular tracers for earliest detection and monitoring of Alzheimer's, neurodegenerative disorders, and head and neck cancers and breast cancer.

  • FMI Technologies Inc. (“FMI”) has developed an ultra high resolution diagnostic imaging technology that can be combined with drugs and molecular tracers for early detection and monitoring of neurodegenerative disorders.
  • FMI’s PET/CT/SPECT system offers a superior and more cost-effective solution that enables advanced therapy and possible cures for Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular Dementia, Parkinson’s disease and other dementias.
  • In addition, its unique Fused Multimodality Imaging will offer the data critical to earlier physician diagnosis of stroke, and head and neck cancers than are possible with current technology.
