The image below shows a resolution test where the detectors were flooded with data from a Tc 99m source and 2mm lead bars were placed in front of one of the detectors. This demonstrates the high spatial resolution of the detectors. |

The image to the left shows the ScintiStar Mammo scanning a simulated breast with five spheres filled with the nuclear isotope Tc 99m. These 5 graduated spheres are placed in a breast phantom filled water, which has Tc 99m dissolved within it. The spheres represent cancerous masses, which have a higher concentration of isotope than other structures in the breast. Due to its proprietary high resolution detectors, ScintiStar Mammo is able to detect even the smallest difference between the background radiation in a patient and areas with a higher concentration of uptake, which is illustrated by this demonstration. The images to the bottom right and left are screen captures of the reconstructed data that was imaged during the experiment. |
